What’s the absolutely best way to build an email list?

Quick, effective, legal and non-annoying method to build an email marketing list.

Hi!

I believe THE best way to build an email list quickly, effectively and yes, legal and non-annoying is to have an "Opt-in" page on your blog or website. What this does is exchange their first name and email address in exchange for an item of high-perceived value. That could be a 10-page report, or free hard-to-come-by information that will help your subscriber immediately, an automatic solution.

For example, if you had a blog that talks about weight training, your FREE information or report, etc., could have 5 top Ways to get washboard abs in under 7 days.

People are willing to exchange their information for yours IF they believe it to be of great value to them, and ideally, solve a problem or provide an instant solution.

Good Luck,
Cheers – Terri

Do any email campaign companies run pay per sign up ?

we want to promote a double dating site (u.k audience)and are having trouble searching an email marketing company that operate pay per sign up as opposed to pay per click.
Does any body have any ideas of how we would find these companies

They offer packages of subscribers, but I think that you have to have their autoresponder service.

autoresponders. how much do they cost?

i need to make a targeted (email) marketing list, how can i make one, and what are the best ways of making and maintaining such a list?

to make a targeted list you must have some really good content, give them something they want, and ask them to signup for something more they need.

and then sell them something they really really want.

depending on the product, you can have like 2-10% conversion rate

Marketing tool to remind people of upcoming events?

I am the computer training at our company. There are about 500 people in the building that have the opportunity for computer training. Currently, I send out a newsletter with tips and security information, which also includes the training calendar for the next two months. I normally have more people sign up for training when this is sent out; however, I do not want to send out more emails because I am afraid of spamming people basically with unwanted emails.

I have my training calendar posted on our intranet but because of the setup of this intranet it is rather difficult for people to find. You also cannot bookmark it because every time it is updated it gets a new url (I know, out of my control).

Also, HR sends out a monthly email with a link to the training calendar as well.

What can I do in between these items to get people to sign up. I’ve tried making posters, but I haven’t had much luck with that. I’ve had a give away for an all-in-one printer, which went well, but I cannot do that every month.

I’ve thought about taking food or candy to each department with a note next to it, but wasn’t sure about that.

Any ideas to draw more attention to a training schedule periodically and what I can do to get more people to attend?

Thanks!

Couple different ideas about this one..

What about creating a specialized company blog and promote it in all your current marketing materials (newsletter, etc.) that would cater to this training.

That way each month, you can make posts that are relevant to the training, any give outs you may be raffling, and ask for employee input. The employees can sign up to the blog (like a regular WordPress blog) and comment about how they felt about that training, and can submit ideas/suggestions to improve future training.

A blog will also give you the opportunity to expand upon tips from the training that the employees can always refer to if they forget them in the future, making it a beneficial experience for everyone.

I think with some blogs, subscribers can receive email updates of a new post on the blog, so you wouldn’t have to directly email them, but those who are willingly subscribing to the blog can receive updated information. Making the blogs fun and interesting may get more people to sign up.

In fact you could make this an overall HR blog, with updated company news, training information, etc. etc…

I think one of the best ways to draw attention to an event is to do something unpredictable, candy is always good but will everyone notice? It also depends on the time/money you’re willing to put into for just training..

What about setting up a cpu monitor that replays a preview video of the training all day long (with other company news/events), and its benefits in an employee lounge/eating area.. Videos are relatively easy to make, simple camcorders, with windows movie maker makes a decent video…

what is the best small business, hosted crm solution. why? needs to integrate with quickbooks.?

looking for something that is simple to get started, easily integrates with quickbooks and outlook, provides lots of features such as tracking customer service incidents and email marketing campaigns, offers simple upload and download features via csv, is fairly customizable, and not expensive… less than $30 a month per user ideally. maybe 5 users max initially.

I dont have any experience in customer relations management software but maybe you could look at the following options.

LegrandCRM (Not sure about hosted or the price, quickbooks maybe through optional module)

http://marketplace.intuit.com/AppCard/AppInfo.asp?Appid=2425

AEXXIS CRM(breaks your budget)

SugarCRM ($119 per year depending, don’t know about the quickbooks though, maybe through a 3rd party application)

http://www.sugarcrm.com/crm/

Opentaps (Free, once again not certain about quickbooks or CSV but i am sure support for it will appear eventually)

http://www.sequoiaerp.org/

Compiere
http://www.compiere.org (Free open source, supports Excel and many other formats, not sure about quickbooks but once again it could happen)

Others worth mentioning, not sure if they classify as CRM software packages.

I hope you find something useful above.

where can I get a good email list for newsletter marketing of my site?

I would like to find a good email list for my marketing. My wife recently signed up for this auction site and immediately started getting emails from other auction sites. How do they do that. She never went on the sites she is getting emails from and the site she joined is not affiliated with those sites. Im positive on that. I would like to get lists like that

The emails you are receiving sound like borderline spam, while it’s acceptable to send a promotion for someone else’s product to an email address you have a relationship with, it’s not considered ethical to share email addresses with other companies.

There are email list brokers, often the same companies that collect snail mail lists too. Many list cost thousands of dollars. Spam Can regulations specify that emails are to be send only with the recipient’s permission, internet postmasters are on the lookout to halt multiple mails from a single source. You might look into buying ad space in targeted emagazines.

Marketers will set up campaigns solely for the purpose of creating their own email list to which they send useful information, promotions for their own products and products of joint partners who swap mailings. Marketers may value their mails list ot be worth $1 per person, per month. The email sign up campaigns will generally offer an enticement, like a 20 page report that people have to sign up for, later a first contact email is sent asking them to verify that they have signed up to the list, this best practice is refereed to as double opt in emails.

Services that automate the email marketing process and also improve email delivery rates called auto responders, aweber is the biggest name in the field, charging $20/mo to send out predefined sequences on emails.
