However, addresses you have been forwarded you cannot just use - as those people have no formal relationship with your company at all - and they can, succesfully, claim you spam them. The best solution is to start an opt-in mailing list - and send people you have address of a one time mail with the invitation to join that list. Do not add any commercial information to the invite - just a "your email address is in our database - please can you confirm you want to recieve commercial mailings from my company - reply to this mail to be added" That way, if someone does not reply - it`s an automatic 'no, please don`t send me'. If they do reply, it means 'yes, i don`t mind receiving your news/ commercial information'. The top solution is to create a mailing list manager that handles subscribe and unsubscribe requests automatically. If you subscribe, you cannot complain you are being spammed.
